The Trip to Maine. Monday, July 27, 2015

Ready to leave for Oakland, ME

Our first stop in Sturbridge, MA for refreshments for the trip.

This is Libby’s Market in Brunswick, ME. They have wonderful lobster roll. The owner is a lobsterman so the catch is fresh.

We arrived in Oakland, ME at 3:30 p.m. Gary met us and we were off on a tour of Snow Pond.
Gary runs Snow Pond Cruises and offers a great history lesson of the lake area. (Messalonskee Lake, the real name of Snow Pond). Gary had a notebook of pictures relating to the stories he so eloquently told of the lake inhabitants and its history of years ago.

During the tour Gary was able to get the boat very close to a mother Loon and her new chick.
A young eagle in the top right side of a pine tree.

It was a most enjoyable cruise.

After dinner we sat out by the lake and enjoyed the mild and calm weather.

Gary and Brenda our hosts for the evening.
