Oregon

Lee Ann & I visited with Sue Manchester Fletcher and her husband Roger Fletcher at their home in Dallas, OR
We visited with Ann and Van Decker owners & operators of "The Decker Tree Farm" in Corvallis, OR
We are on our way out of this huge state of Oregon. It is beautiful. If you follow the blog you know we saw Ray 's brother and visited the "Cristom Vineyard". A great fellow he is. We did the coast of Washington and part of OR. Saw lots of very curvy, snake like roads, lovely beaches, met great people. Bob got in touch with a HS friend and we visited plus we visits the Deckers, we met them in So. Dakota. They are  in the logging business. He and his wife are gems, the kind of people you want as friends. Now on our way to Salt Lake City in 2 days to hear the Mormon Choir, then on our way home.

Oregon!

The coast of Oregon is very beautiful. The bridge we crossed to Astoria, OR. from Washington state was 4 miles long. We had lunch in Astoria, on the Columbia River. There I saw a whale in the harbor. We followed a very curvy road but were rewarded with beauty. Our destination is close to Salem, OR but in the Willamette Valley. Acres of farm land and vineyards are seen on both sides.

Lee Ann, Bob & Oscar go to Cristom Vineyards.

Andy Zorzi, Ray Zanotelli's brother was our tour guide.

More mash.
La cave at Cristom Vineyards.
Oscar thought this was one of his best stops.

RELAXING AFTER OUR TRIP FROM POST FALLS,ID.

In Twisp, WA. At The Twisp River Pub for dinner.

Coeur D'Alene,ID. 9/20/15

We went on some curvy mountain roads today. Bob was tired. We are a few miles from Spokane, Washington and tomorrow we cross the state to travel the shore route, the Cascades and down
towards Oregon, also along the coast. Everyone says it is beautiful. That will take a few days. We just spent 2days in Idaho, which is probably the most amazing state. Pure beauty, wild, great rugged mountains, snow peaked and high, we loved it and where we stayed was 1st. class,on the Salmon River. I think it was my favorite State so far.
The days are flying by too fast. I am at the laundry facility at the campground. That also is part of camping.
I hope all of you are doing well. I still cannot receive e-mails on my IPad. I can on my phone though, same e- mail address.
The Yellowstone area was cut short because of the weather there. It rained heavily the last day in Grand Teton and continued driving up to Yellowstone all day and that night. The next morning, 34°,we decided to leave because they were telling us to expect freezing temperatures and snow. We had snow squalls driving through "The Old Faithful" and saw some animals and steam in many hot volcanic areas but it was cold, wet, and slick driving. We are happy we left. What we saw of it was wonderful. The park facilities was closing the 20th. for the season.
I can't say yet when we will start going east. After Washington and Oregon, I think the thought of home will be strong. Enjoy this fall period. It is the cream of New England. Best regards to all.

We are in West Yellowstone, MN, and on our way to Idaho. Last night in Yellowstone the temperature was 37° and raining on and off this morning there were snow showers on our way out and we met with significant snow squalls. We were at 8200 ft alt. The temp stayed above freezing and the roads were just wet. Lunch at "The Timberline Cafe".

up on the saddle for the ride

At the Blue Bell Lodge in Custer State Park, SD

Into the wild, 9/9/2015.

We arrived here yesterday, (Keystone,Wy.) We went to Mt. Rushmore. It is quite inspiring to realize people risked their lives to climb so high to make this beautiful carving in stone. Today we tour the Badlands. Tomorrow we start for the Grand Tetons. It is a long trip and we have to divide it into 3 days. The weather is fine.
